Get To Worry

Get To Worry

GET TO WORRY

I’m on the train from my home in Orange County to Hollywood, on my way into the recording studio to record the audio book for Get To Be Happy. Yes, I Get To do this and it’s so exciting. But I woke up feeling nervous and, honestly, also feeling anxious, scared and worried. What? The guy that tells us to Get To Be Happy was worried? Yep. My book sales are lower than I’d like, I’m short on reviews on Amazon (hint, hint), and writing the sequel is weighing on my mind.  Now to you, all of this may sound trivial. And to someone lying on the floor of a mud hut, sick and dying and with no medical attention, this is definitely trivial. But when our minds get stuck on something, trivial or not, we worry and feel anxious.

.

These are feelings I’m familiar with. I think all of us are familiar with anxious, scared and worried feelings. And when I say “all of us”, I really mean all of us — even the rich and famous.  Maybe the rich and famous have these feelings more than others. No matter how much money you have, no matter how much “success” you have, it’s easy for our minds to get caught up in the things happening to us at the moment, trivial or not.

.

So what can we do? Use the Get To Principle and the Get To Mantra (Blog #1)

.

Here’s a refresher. Say “I Get To”. Then smile. Then do what you are doing. Get To – Smile – Do it.

.

In my case, Get To – Smile – Worry (feel what I’m feeling).  When I say Get To, I realize there are so many people with so much less than I have. In that space of compassion and appreciation, when I smile I feel a sense of joy, even with the “worry” hanging over me. Then when I deliberately worry, it slowly fades away.

I love the Get To Journey!
