WHY DID YOU GET UP THIS MORNING?
This is simple, but why did you get up this morning? Was it to jump out of bed to play with your red truck or Barbie doll? Did you have a feeling of “getting to” do your day? Or was it a forced “have to” kind of moment for you? What do you feel as you’re going to bed at night? Is it joy at what you got to do, or just another day in life?
When we were kids it was all so new and fun. But as we got older, things got more serious. Things come up and we resist them. Getting up in the mornings and going to bed have lost their joy. The obstacles in our daily lives bring us down. Are you ready to change that? The key is living in the present moment. I know, I know, easier said than done. However, hopefully, after having read the first three blogs in this series, you are using the Get To – Smile – Do it! mantra and feeling more and more “here”. And smiling.
What I am going to suggest now is that you use the mantra in the morning as you’re waking up and as you’re going to sleep. In the morning, as soon as you come to consciousness and you are laying there, say or think, “I Get To”. Then smile. Then say or think, “Be alive”. Get To – Smile – Be alive. If you do this for even just one minute you will smile, and your day will be better. In the evenings, as you’re going to bed, simply repeat “I Got To….” and fill in the blank with something you did that day. Smile. Do this with ten things.
The days we have alive on the planet are precious. When you can, smile and find joy while you are awake.
